Sol & Sip! | A Spanish Wine & Tapas Participatory Dinner Party

  • The Kitchen 231 East Livingston Avenue Columbus, Ohio, 43215 United States (map)

Spain is having a moment! And now you can experience it without leaving Columbus. Join us for an interactive evening as you work together to prepare authentic tapas before settling in to enjoy a beautifully served dinner with five exceptional Spanish wines hand-selected by Sommelier Matt Connor.

The Bodegas Bhilar & Etérea Kripan wines are represented from a husband and wife team working in the mountains of Spain's Rioja region. David Sampedro grew up in the village of Elvillar, and took over the family's vineyards before deciding to make wine for himself instead of simply selling his fruit. Our very own Melanie Hickman is a product of Central Ohio - born and raised in Marion and a graduate of OSU. She & David met over a glass of wine in a bar in Madrid, and skipping ahead a bit in the story, she now grows grapes and makes wine alongside David under her own label. Everything they do is organically & bio-dynamically grown, plowed by horse, and truly reflects the sense of place in a way few Rioja wines do. In proper Spanish fashion, we've paired David & Melanie's wines with some classic Spanish tapas - unlike in Spain, we aren't starting dinner at 11:00 at night... Salut!

Please note, our signature Participatory Dining Experiences are guided, experiential, and collaborative meal preparation and dining events. They are not a cooking class and you will not be taught complex techniques or how to prepare a full meal. Instead, you and 2-6 other guests will be responsible for preparing one recipe or course together in our communal kitchen before sitting down to enjoy your well-deserved meal. All cooking ability levels are welcome as our staff will guide you through basic safety and preparation instructions.

Due to the alcoholic beverage pairings, this event is only for guests age 21 years or older. A full bar of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage selections will be available for purchase at the event. Our bar features both local and domestic offerings of beer, wine, and classic & signature cocktails.

We encourage guests to read the FAQs on our website or reach out to us with any questions regarding the experience. Please indicate any dietary restrictions in the checkout notes section and we will do our best to suit your needs. If you are coming with a group and buying separate tickets, indicate their names in the checkout notes section and we will do our best to seat your group together. Please contact us directly for any changes to your reservation.
