The vast world of alcohol can be intimidating. Whether it's beer, wine, or spirits, there are an overwhelming number of options, and it can be a challenge to figure out what you might enjoy when you are flying blind. To help with this we're launching "Behind the Bar" - an educational tasting series where we bring in some of our favorite Bartenders/professional drinkers to guide us through a selection and provide some knowledge along the way. It's basically school for booze, which is much more fun than normal school, since you get to drink as you go.
Join Matt Connor from Vanguard Wines - Certified Sommelier, Certified Specialist of Wine (and former bartender at the Refectory, amongst others) as we taste through the wines of France and learn about the history, grapes, and regions that make French wine what it is.
The Wines of France
In many ways, the history of fine wine is the history of France. The French were the first to discuss terroir (a sense of place in wine) and many of the best known grapes in the world (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc) are originally French. Join us as we explore some of the finest regions in France, with a focus on regional styles and history. There will be Champagne, because Matt loves Champagne.
Cost includes 5 tasting pours (2 oz each) and light paired appetizers.
